Being one of the best hotels in Hamburg, we take our ecological responsibility very seriously - and that wholehartedly. For us, environmentally friendly behavior and business practices according to the environmental certification ÖKOPROFIT have become second nature. We take action and are committed by conviction.
About ÖKOPROFIT:
The German word ÖKOPROFIT stands for ECOlogical PROject for Integrated Environmental Technology.
The project supports companies around the world in an efficient and cost-effective improvement of environmental and climate protection in their own companies. Here, at the MADISON, the focus in all departments of the hotel is on operational environmental protection, sensible technical solutions and an active participation by our team.
Numerically, Ökoprofit is the most successful model for the introduction of corporate environmental management approaches and aims to strengthen companies economically through preventive environmental protection. The project is offered regionally through a cooperation between the municipality, business and environmental consultants and is part of the "UmweltPartnerschaft Hamburg" here in Hamburg. This regional anchoring is the prerequisite for a direct exchange between all participants. All participants are able to learn from each other.
Our Housekeeping:
We gladly exchange towels and bathrobes for you when you leave them on the floor.
For the sake of the environment we change the sheets on your bed every three days, unless you wish to have them changed earlier.
When cleaning we increasingly refrain from using chemical products and primarily make use of ecological cleaning agents.
Our Engineering:
We reduce our energy consumption by utilizing professional energy controlling, energy efficient air-conditioning and modern LED lightning as well as having installed energy saver booxes in all the rooms.
Saving water is an important environmental concern. For this reason the water flow rate in the hotel is regulated by modern perlators without compromising your comfort.
Through our organized waste management system, including structured waste separation by our employees, we make an active contribution to environmental protection.
Our Communication:
All important information about your stay can be found on a tablet in your hotel room. Therefore, we do not have any brochures and menus in the hotel rooms anymore and use the device to provide you with the latest news and tips for your time in Hamburg.
Our Dedication:
We are fully aware of our social responsibility here at the MADISON, too. Our commitment to numerous social projects, sound basic and advanced education as well as regular training courses for oour team is an integral part of our philosophy.
Measures, we are taking at our MADISON, to promote environmental protection:
- since 2016: digital guest folder (in-room tablet) in all hotel rooms
- since 2017: digital reservation correspondence
- since 2017: Use of green energy
- since 2018: Switch to energy-efficient printers
- since 2018: Use of large containers in the guest supply (no small bottles for shampoo etc.)
- Since 2018: Introduction of a digital intranet for paperless communication
- since 2019: digital management of accounts payable
- since 2020: Possibility to waive housekeeping service through in-room tablet communication
- since 2021: Use of re-usable glas straws
- since 2023: Replacement of the windows with triple thermal insulation glass
- since 2023: Use of special steam cleaners in housekeeping for environmentally friendly cleaning
- since 2023: Grow my Tree - We plant a tree for every room cleaning we save
