There is currently a general test verification requirement for air traffic travelers. People who travel to Germany by plane must - regardless of whether they have been in a risk area (including high incidence area and virus variant area) - present a negative test result to the carrier before departure. A vaccination certificate can replace a negative COVID-19 test and thus release you from quarantine. However, this does not apply to a previous stay in a virus variant area.

Is it allowed to travel to Hamburg?

Yes, touristic travel is allowed again.

Do I need a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival?

Yes, you have to present a negative COVID-19 test at check-in. This must either be a PCR test (max. 72h old) or an antigen rapid test (max. 48h old). The test certificate must be submitted in printed or digital form. During your stay, a new test must be carried out every 72 hours. Fully vaccinated persons (at least 14 days after the last vaccination) or those who have recovered (positive PCR test max. 6 months old) are excluded from this rule - a proof is required.

Where is the nearest COVID-19 test center?

There is a test center located at the Gruner + Jahr building which is approx. 100 m away from our hotel. The test center is called "Testzentrum Baumwall".

I am travelling from an area of variant of concern. Am I allowed to stay in Hamburg?

No, entry from virus variant areas is currently prohibited. You are not allowed to enter Germany.

If you are a German citizien, you are allowed to enter Germany by presenting a negativ COVID-19 test. You have to go to quarantine for 14 days after arrival.

I am travelling from a high-incidence area. Am I allowed to stay in Hamburg?

Travelers from high-incidence areas must show a negative COVID-19 test or a proof of vacination or recovery when entering Germany. If you are recoverd or fully vacinated for 14 days, you do not have to go to quarantine. Otherwise you have to go into quarantine. Another COVID-19 test can be carried out on the 5th day after arrival to end the quarnatine time. The day of arrival does not count here.

You also have to register at the responsible health department before entering Germany. The report must be made by all those entering and returning, regardless of the type of entry (plane, train or car).

You can spend the time of the required quarantine in a hotel room. Each room is equipped with a kitchenette so that you can cook for yourself. We also provide a laundry service as well as a grocery shopping service. Please note that you are not allowed to leave the hotel room during the time of quarantine.


Do I have to wear a mask permanently in Hamburg?

You have to wear a medical face mask in all public buildings (hotels, banks, supermarkets) and on public transport.

What are the regulations for restaurants and bars in Hamburg?

Restaurants and bars can open the indoor and outdoor areas.

Please take care of the current contact restrictions. In addition, you need to present a negative COVID-19 test, a proof of vaccination or recovery when you want to sit inside a restaurant or bar.

The highest hygiene requirements and standards have top priority for us at the MADISON Hotel; at all times. We follow extensive hygiene guidelines so that you can feel comfortable with us and spend a pleasant and safe stay.

Do I have to wear a face mask at the hotel?

Yes, in all public buildings, you need to wear a face mask. Our team wears a face mask and is protected by plexiglass windows.

Wearing a face mask is mandatory for all of us.

What's the check in / check out procedure?

The check-in and check-out process is mainly performed contactless. Our reception is currently equipped with glass panes with which we protect you and our team. Disinfected pens and key cards are ready for you. Please throw the latter into the key card box at check-out. The cards are then disinfected. We ask you to prefer card payment.

Is the minimum distance of 1.5m observed anywhere in the hotel?

We recommend that you only use the elevators alone or with one household. We also keep the distances between the tables and chairs in the restaurant.

How is the public area cleaned?

All surfaces such as door handles, handrails of stairs, elevator buttons and the sanitary facilities are cleaned several times a day. We take care of a very good ventilation of the entire hotel as well. We are currently using disinfectant virucidal cleaning agents throughout the hotel. You will find disinfectant dispensers in various places, such as the lobby and the restaurant.

How is my room cleaned?

Your room will be cleaned every day. If you would like to skip the daily cleaning during a longer stay, please inform our team. All employees work with a face mask and gloves and use disinfectant virucidal cleaning agents. Before entering your hotel room, it is disinfected entirely.


Since we have to keep a minimum distance of 1.5m to the next table, we only have a limited capacity of tables. We therefore recommend that you reserve in advance. If you would like to reserve a table, please contact our team by dialing +49 40 37666 140.

Is the restaurant open?

Our Marley's Restaurant is open daily from 06:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Please note that external guests have to present a negative COVID-19 test, a proof of vaccination or recovery when they want to sit inside our restaurant or bar.

Can I have breakfast in the morning?

Yes, of course! We serve our breakfast buffet daily between 06:30 and 11:00 a.m. - on weekends and holidays even until 12:00 noon. You can choose between our breakfast buffet, our continental breakfast and our bread roll service.

Is the BAR open?

Yes! Our BAR opens daily from 06:00 p.m. to midnight. Please note that external guests have to present a negative COVID-19 test, a proof of vaccination or recovery when they want to sit inside our restaurant or bar.


Can I hold a conference in the MADISON?

Yes, you can hold a conference or meeting. Nevertheless, conferences and meetings are only allowed with restrictions.

Must the minimum distance be kept in the conference rooms?

There is a minimum distance of 1.5m between the seats required. To make this possible, we have changed the maximum capacities of our meeting rooms.

Do meeting guests need a COVID-19 test?

Yes, all meeting attendees need to have a negative COVID-19 test result.


Is the Meridian Spa open?

Yes, the MeridianSpa is open. You have to present a negative COVID-19 test at the MeridianSpa reception. This must either be a PCR test (max. 72h old) or an antigen rapid test (max. 48h old).

Do I have to wear a face mask at the spa?

Yes, please wear a face mask in the entire area of ​​the Meridian Spa & Fitness. You do not need to wear a mask while doing your training or while beeing at the wellness area.
